Autechre

February 7, 2009

This band has been a great great GREAT inspiration for us.

Autechre is very different from all the IDM bands out there, even in that genre I found Autechre truly progressive, ranging from their obvious hip hop influences into glitch sounds to drone oriented tracks.

I actually have this theory that Autechre becomes harder and harder to listen to in every new album, and that’s just simply because of their ability to reinvent themselves.

Another good thing about them is their vision about electronic music – what I think their vision is (subjective) – , they’re very software friendly. I read that they use Max/Msp to build those gorgeous algorithmic sound structures, very very complex and texturized sonic perfection.

I would like you to see this beautiful piece by Alexander Rutherford, it’s Gantz Graf, a render that seems to react to sound, its shape transforms following the intricate patterns of AE. Enjoy.
